The fastest way to reach the maintainer is email: ianwelkins@gmail.com. Sizing questions, corrections with a source attached, and suggestions for calculators the site is missing are all welcome.

What to write about

A number looks wrong: use the error report form. The form exists for corrections — it records which page you were on and which figure you are querying, and gives you room to cite the source you are reading from. Email also works for corrections, but the form is the quicker, surer route; email is the better channel for everything else on this page.

A sizing question the calculators don't answer: email it, with your height, weight and the kind of skiing you do. The unusual cases are the ones worth asking about — very tall or very light skiers, a discipline the site does not cover yet, a result that sits between two chart rows. If the answer generalises, it may become an FAQ or part of a page; anything used that way is anonymised, and nothing you send is ever published with your name.

An idea for a new calculator: suggestions are read with real interest, and the ones that get built are those inside the site's scope — ski and pole length, and the sizing questions around them. Say what decision the tool would help you make; that is the test every page here has to pass.

What happens when you write

Your message goes to Ian Welkins, who built the calculators and maintains the site, and he is the only person who reads it. There is no support desk, no ticket system and no mailing list to be added to.

A reported error is checked against the published sources named in that page's Sources block — the retail sizing charts, the FIS equipment specifications — not against memory or opinion. If the source supports your correction, the figure is fixed, the page's last verified date is updated, and the site's automated check suite gains a test for that figure so the same mistake cannot come back unnoticed. If the sources side with the page as it stands, you will be told why, with the citation.

Your email address is used only to reply to you. It is never sold, shared or added to any list — the privacy policy sets out the full picture.

What not to send

Personal details beyond the question. A sizing question needs your height, weight and discipline — nothing more. Please do not send your home address, account details or anything financial; you will never be asked for them, and they are not needed to answer you.

Medical or injury questions. This site sizes equipment; it does not give medical advice. Whether a knee, a back or an old injury should change what you ski — or whether you should ski at all — is a question for a doctor or physiotherapist who can examine you. No sizing chart, this one included, can answer it safely, so questions like that cannot be answered here.
